Social Media Tips and Advice

Almost all of our students are in one way or another are involved in social media. Social Media can of course be a great tool to communicate with friends and family and meet new people. Sometimes social media can cause negative impacts as well.
I want to encourage parents to be aware of what social media sites their child is using and what they are writing. Many sites have age restrictions but are not followed by students. Please make a note of the age restrictions provided in the poster below.
This is a very useful information document, from digitalparenting.com with some advice, ideas and tips for parents navigating social media.

Antagning/Admissions procedure

For more information about the admissions process, please read under Join the Queue where you will find FAQ about how to apply and the admissions procedure.

The number of spots offered may vary from year to year. Please contact the school (info.boras@engelska.se) for more information regarding this. The admissions process is done for one year at a time, meaning that in November each year we start the process to admit students for the upcoming school year.

Regional Conference

Feedback from our Study Day!

Last Friday our school had its first Study Day of the year and while our students were hopefully having a nice sleep in, our staff left at 5.45 to travel to IES Lund in order to participate in our yearly regional conference.

In addition to Borås, Our Southwest region consists of our IES schools from Jönköping, Göteborg (Johanneberg and Krokslätt), Halmstad, Hässleholm and Lund. Next year there will be two more schools as IES is opening in Helsingborg and Landskrona.

During the morning session, we were all inspired by our guest speaker, Mr James Nottingham (www.jamesnottingham.co.uk), who addressed how we can develop feedback in the classroom and also differentiate our teaching to meet the individual needs of our students. In the afternoon, we split up into smaller discussion groups where we continued to develop the themes of feedback and differentiation.

The regional conferences are important as we share best practices and learn from our fellow educators. At present we have around 3 500 students in our region which is 16% of the total number of IES students in Sweden.

We will have 3 more Study Days in the spring term where our teachers work with the national tests and also develop their departments.
