Feedback from our Study Day!
Last Friday our school had its first Study Day of the year and while our students were hopefully having a nice sleep in, our staff left at 5.45 to travel to IES Lund in order to participate in our yearly regional conference.
In addition to Borås, Our Southwest region consists of our IES schools from Jönköping, Göteborg (Johanneberg and Krokslätt), Halmstad, Hässleholm and Lund. Next year there will be two more schools as IES is opening in Helsingborg and Landskrona.
During the morning session, we were all inspired by our guest speaker, Mr James Nottingham (www.jamesnottingham.co.uk), who addressed how we can develop feedback in the classroom and also differentiate our teaching to meet the individual needs of our students. In the afternoon, we split up into smaller discussion groups where we continued to develop the themes of feedback and differentiation.
The regional conferences are important as we share best practices and learn from our fellow educators. At present we have around 3 500 students in our region which is 16% of the total number of IES students in Sweden.
We will have 3 more Study Days in the spring term where our teachers work with the national tests and also develop their departments.
